KDE tip - speed up KDE launch time

Here's a really simple but very effective tip for speeding up the time it takes for KDE to start up. How it works is that it prevents KDE from reloading your open windows and settings from the last session, thus speeding up the start-up by loading in a blank session.

Installing Pidgin under Ubuntu Feisty

Everyone's favourite open source instant messenger application for Windows and Linux, GAIM, recently changed its name to Pidgin, and pushed out a new release - Pidgin 2.0.

However, Pidgin isn't in the Ubuntu Feisty Fawn repositories yet, meaning the new release won't yet come through the software update system and won't be available from Add/Remove Software.
