Backing up whole partitions

Backing up is something we should all do, but we never seem to remember to do it. Then, when something breaks, we aren't happy.

Actually, I'm fairly good about backing up. I do it once a month (on my main desktop machine) and I backup everything important to a removable 200 GB drive. At the moment, I'm still using a proprietary backup solution. It backs up Windows and Linux partitions …

Ubuntu tip - upgrade from Dapper to Edgy

Here's an awesome (and quick) Ubuntu tip for you.

If you're running the older release (Dapper Drake or 6.06) of Ubuntu, and you want to upgrade to the latest and greatest version - Edgy Eft (or 6.10), there's actually a really easy way to do this, without changing any of your documents.

Hit Alt+F2 and type in the following:

gksu "update-manager -c"

Press Enter, enter your user password when prompted …

Sony add PS3 support to the Linux kernel

OSNews is reporting that Sony have apparently written code to specifically allow the Linux kernel to run a lot easier on the PS3.

People have already had success running Yellow Dog and Fedora Core on the PS3, but with a bit of luck, this hack should make it even easier to get Linux on your PS3.

Makes a change from a certain next-gen console manufacturer who I'm guessing are dead …
