Back in November, I took a quick look at how to set up secure remote login with SSH.

It's really simple to login with your username/password combination on the remote machine, but sometimes it can be a better idea to use key-based authentication.

Possible Beryl/Compiz Merger

In a recent mailing list posting, Quinn Storm, the lead developer of Beryl, stated a possibility of a Beryl/Compiz merge in the future if both projects want to cooperate.

In a nutshell, Storm's ideas were to:

  • Merge the two projects into one, community project
  • Come up with a third name for the merge
  • If the merge is unsuccessful, re-fork back into Beryl.

We've all seen those new ads from Apple - the one where the Mac is ever-so-trendy and cool and the (fairly obviously Windows-based) PC.
