KDE tip - taking screenshots

In GNOME, it's really easy to take a screenshot of your system, you just hit Print Screen and a handy window pops up where you can save it.

For some reason, this functionality doesn't work with KDE out of the box, but that doesn't mean you can't take screenshots. There are many utilities that will allow you to take screenshots, but one that is built in to KDE is KSnapshot. …

FOSSwire Redesign

You may have noticed this already, but in case you haven't, FOSSwire has had a bit of a redesign!

I think you'll agree it looks a lot cleaner and smoother than the old design and personally I'm extremely pleased with it. We must say a big thanks to fellow Oratos blogger Chris Van Patten (also of LVPMedia) for actually doing the design.

Installing Pidgin under Ubuntu Feisty

Everyone's favourite open source instant messenger application for Windows and Linux, GAIM, recently changed its name to Pidgin, and pushed out a new release - Pidgin 2.0.

However, Pidgin isn't in the Ubuntu Feisty Fawn repositories yet, meaning the new release won't yet come through the software update system and won't be available from Add/Remove Software.
