Google open source Google Web Toolkit (GWT)

    Google

The Official Google Blog is reporting that Google have officially made their Google Web Toolkit product open source under the Apache 2.0 licence.

The Google Web Toolkit is a set of tools aimed at web developers wanting to build Ajax and similar rich interfaces into their applications and it provides some groundwork (mostly written in Java) to help web developers avoid reinventing the wheel when building rich web apps.

This is a good move for FOSS, and it hopefully reiterates Google's commitment to open source - with a few of their apps and developer tools already open source, and their Summer of Code project.
